Green Tea Extract

Green tea and green tea extract have both been receiving a lot of attention as of late in the health and fitness community. Green tea has long been a staple in Asian countries. Only recently have green tea began to infiltrate Western society, which has long been a consumer of black tea.

Green tea is a “true” tea and has undergone minimal oxidation during its processing. Green tea, depending on the variety, contains between 30 and 60 milligrams of caffeine in an eight ounce cup. As a benchmark, an eight ounce cup of coffee contains around 100 milligrams of caffeine.

Green tea extract has received a lot of attention lately because of several studies showing its fat burning properties. Green tea extract, when consumed in conjunction with a caffeine supplement, has been shown to burn more fat than those taking only caffeine.

Green tea has many health benefits besides weight loss. Green tea has been shown to help prevent:

  • cancer
  • rheumatoid arthritis
  • high cholesterol levels
  • cariovascular disease
  • infection
  • impaired immune function

Doseage Recommendation: 300 milligrams twice per day.
